Against “Polish death camps”
Since 2005 the Polish Media Issues group has been fighting against the historically inaccurate and offensive terms like “Polish death camps”, “Polish concentration camps” or “Polish ghettos” appearing in the press. We regularly monitor media all over the world and, when necessary, intervene, demanding corrections and the use of the proper expression:
“German Nazi concentration/extermination camp in occupied Poland”
We react whenever we see such slurs. We need you to do the same.
The occurrence of factually incorrect terms in news articles is ubiquitous. The historically erroneous terms as “Polish concentration camp” and “Polish death camp” to describe camps built by the Germans during World War II confuse readers and lead them to believe that the Holocaust was executed by Poland, rather than Germany.
